As you must be aware, the 2016 Summer Olympics have commenced and the event that will last for 17 Days will witness innumerable records getting shattered. One man that has been rising since 2004 and is sure to rise in this year’s event too is Michael Phelps. Well, he just earned his 23rd (yes, you heard it correct!) Career Olympic Medal making his Gold tally to count a stellar 19, just a few hours back. It is all but expected that things for him will go uphill from here on.

When some of the countries fail to win as many medals as he alone has, Phelps continue to grow over previous legends and is on his way to becoming (or already has?) the Greatest Swimmer of all times.

Phelps is the world record-holder in 100 meters and 200-meter butterfly, 400-meter individual medley, 200-meter freestyle and 200-meter individual medley, making himself the most decorated Olympic swimmer of all time.

We list down some of the Michael Phelps’ facts that are still unknown to many:

1. Phelps was an ‘Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder’ (ADHD) kid and Swimming was introduced to him as an outlet for his energy.

 

2. Part of the reason Phelps is such an implausible swimmer is that he has an incredible wingspan – 6’7’’ at that!

3. Michael Phelps is the youngest male to qualify for the U.S. Swimming Team. This was in the 2000 Summer Olympics.
