Are ghosts real? This is the question we ask ourselves whenever we watch intimidating horror movies. But who is going to give the answer? If we ask has anyone seen any ghost, the answer would be no. But many have felt the presence of it. The cast and crew had to survive a lot of paranormal activities going around them to give us some of the best horror movies.
1. The Exorcist.
We have already heard about all the news surrounding the shooting and the premiere of the movie. But what you might not know is that during the shoot real priest was called many times to clean the paranormal aura of the location. The priest confirmed that Satan did not want the film to be made. This was further proved by the death of Jack MacGowran, who played Burke Dennings, shortly after completing his scenes, along with some other untimely death in the family of the cast members.
2. The Amityville Horror.
Star James Brolin formerly didn’t believe in the true story on which this horror movie was based until while reading the novel for the film, he experienced a fright. Though he was hesitant, he finally signed the movie, which led to many other paranormal activities on the sets.
3. The Possession.
The things which are clichés in horror movies actually happened during the shooting of The Possession. Light bulbs turning on and off all by themselves and even getting exploded, cold breezes and even a storage facility got burned down destroying the titular box made for the movie. Though star Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is a non-believer in ghosts, he admitted to some freaky paranormal happenings for which he had no explanations.
4. The Innkeepers.
Actress Sara Paxton has shared some of her stupefying experiences on this movie set. She was forced to believe in paranormal objects or ghosts when she started waking up in the middle of the night feeling someone’s presence in her room.
This movie is known to be the most ‘cursed’ among the other horror movies. From day one of the 1982 movie shooting, the cast and crew realised that the movie had been cursed as they used real skeletons as props. A lot of deaths and tragic happenings is associated with this ominous movie. JoBeth Williams in an interview stated that each night after shoot when she returned home, she saw the pictures in her house were crooked. This is just like all the horror movies coming alive.
6. The Omen.
During the shoot, each time the cast members boarded a plane it got struck by lightning. Many including the director were involved in car accidents. A two-day footage of the movie shoot was erased when a camera malfunctioned suspiciously.
7. The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
This weird thing kept on happening with actress Jennifer Carpenter on the sets while shooting. The stereo kept turning on in the middle of nowhere, playing Pearl Jam’s “Alive”, just a specific part of the song “I’m still alive”.
Myra Davis, who was a part of the crew, got killed by her real life psycho boyfriend. Post this incident, many murders were reported, carrying out in the same pattern as shown in the movie.
9. Rosemary’s Baby.
Not sure about ghosts, but the producer William Castle received an unknown letter which read as, “Bastard. Believer in Witchcraft. A worshipper at the Shrine of Satanism. My prediction is you will slowly rot during a long and painful illness which you have brought upon yourself.” After this, the producer really continuously went through some serious health issues.
10. The Conjuring.
Actress Vera Farmiga was never really comfortable with horror movies. But what made her belief stronger is when one night she opened her laptop to find three scratches on the screen. Since then she refused to bring home the script of the movie. Once the Parren family, on whom the movie is based, had visited the set. After returning Carolyn Perron felt someone’s presence in the house and was pushed to ground. As they say, once the ghosts are after you they never leave you.
11. The Ghost of Goodnight Lane.
This movie is actually inspired by a haunted film set. The people on the movie sets were haunted by a paranormal male figure, which nobody saw but felt the presence, so much so that someone even got a slap on it.
12. The Ghost Whisperer.
The Ghost Whisperer isn’t a movie but the name given to the paranormal activities. The set of the TV series which featured Jennifer Love Hewitt is known to be haunted by ghosts. On Ellen DeGeneres’ show, she described how during one shot they saw a shadow peeking just behind from her shoulder.
